Weekend Warrior

That's kinda what I feel like after having Wyatt all to myself this weekend.  Jay went to Texas to visit some friends and we had some Wyatt & Mama time.  On Friday, we were going to have an nightmarish exciting day of potty training... but that did not work out.  I did all the prep work of telling Wyatt we were going to have a "fun potty day!".  We have undies, a potty, and I even bought M&Ms as a reward and he seemed very into it.  But as soon as I tried to put undies on and take him to the potty he started crying non-stop!    He wouldn't even sit on it, even though he sits on it a lot with his clothes on.  This lasted for about 15 minutes and I had to give up.  I'll try again next month!  I hope I can get him potty trained before his little brother is born.

I was getting him dressed to call it a morning and head to the park when I noticed his shoes seemed a little tight, so I broke open the size 10's. The kiddo has huge feet!  Apparently the standard age range for 10 is 4 1/2 - 5 years old.  I guess they match his ginormous head?

Friday night I finally got to watch a movie I've been really wanting to see... Boyhood.  Shooting a movie in 12 years is impressive.

Mid movie I had to have some dessert.  I dug into my chocolate covered key lime bites.  It's sad I only have a few left.

Saturday we hit the gym early then went to the Tallahassee Museum.  Wyatt loves exploring there.  He spent almost a half an hour chasing a squirrel around.  That poor squirrel!  The little bugger was trying to dodge all of Wyatt's advances.

Saturday night's dinner was homemade chicken nachos! Plus, I got in another movie night.  Tonight's flick was Snowpiercer, which I'm still not sure if I liked or not?  The premise of global warming gone awry and the only people left are on a perpetually traveling train is very interesting to say the least.

Sunday started out early as usual.  Wyatt has been waking up at 5:30 for the last couple weeks.  I'm starting to get used to it but it still pretty much sucks! I don't think 8:30 - 5:30 is a normal sleeping time for a 2 yr old.  As soon as the sun came up we went out to get donuts at Donut Kingdon.  Wyatt wanted the "pink and purple" one.

I got a red velvet donut and a caramel apple donut.  They were both amazing and I could have eaten a 3rd.  But I restrained myself.

Then we burnt off some of that sugar at the pool!  Wyatt was having lots of fun playing with friends and his cars.  He didn't want to leave.  Sunday night I crashed pretty hard after watching some Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix... that show is funny!  I really wanted to watch Big Brother but I was a good wifey and saved it so I could watch it tonight with Jay.  I'm very proud of myself, hehe.

Anyone out there with potty training advice?
What is your favorite donut flavor?

  1. I am sure having your husband away made for some long days but it looks like you two had a lot of fun together. Those donuts look so good! My only real advice with potty training is to do what is easiest/ works for you and try not to stress about it too much. Here is my blog post about what happened to work for Logan... http://parrott-ponderings.blogspot.com/2014/09/another-milestone.html
We got so much advice that it all began contradicting other advice that people had given me. So I think it is most important to just do what works for your family and try not to stress about timing too much (but I also totally understand the push for potty training when you are expecting another little guy).Good luck! I am sure he will come around to being comfortable with it all soon.

  2. Emma is totally ready for potty training (she loves sitting on it, has gone on it a bunch and wants to wear undies) but I'm not! Haha. We didn't so much to encourage this. It's just so much work. Maybe one if these days I'll get the energy... good luck!
