All You Can Eat Sushi

I'm really going to miss our favorite all-you-can-eat sushi place here in Canada, Masa.  We have been there at least a dozen times over the past year.  They seat you with a menu and a pencil, so you can select all the goodies you want.

After handing over the menu, we wait for our parade of food to begin.  First up is always the seaweed salad.  It's not a huge portion, but of course you can always order more.

Sushi usually comes out next from the kitchen.  Here is white tuna and salmon sushi.  For some reason this restaurant, and most other AYCE places don't have red tuna.  The sushi here always tastes very fresh.  Exactly how it should be.

Now for the rolls!  My favorite at Masa is the Pink Lady (lower left).  It's a salmon bonanza... salmon with tempura crunchies, topped with more salmon and spicy sauce.

They have so many other good things on the menu.  We always get gyoza...

...and shrimp tempura of course. Crispy and delicious!

They have tasty teriyaki dishes too.  Jay always orders the steak and the spicy chicken.

We will really miss this place!  The food and service are great.  The unlimited sushi doesn't hurt either :)  Do you like sushi?  What is your go-to sushi order?

Life Lately

I've been a little MIA the past week.  We've been so busy with the big move!  I can't believe in just 9 days we will be off to Tallahassee.  This past weekend we were sorting through our things, picking out some must haves that Jay was going to drive down to our new house.

Wyatt was sure enjoying watching us load up the trailer.  I can't wait until he's big enough to help ;)

In between the packing, Wyatt and I took some time to hit up the indoor playground.  I have a few more passes to use before we head out.  It has been SO cold!  I think the past week the average high has been about 20 degrees.  I can't wait to play outside again in Florida.

Quick meals were a must this week.  This Korean Beef recipe from Damn Delicious took no time at all and it was delicious.

When I had some free time, I played with my new American phone, an iPhone 6 of course!  Jay picked it up for me when he was there finding a house.  Best husband ever.

Now we are off to lunch... taking advantage of "iPad Sushi" before we leave.  Ordering from an iPad makes the experience so much more fun.

3 Things I'm Looking Forward to in the U.S.

I wrote a post Monday about the things I'll miss about Canada, now onto what I'm excited for in the states!

1.  Publix
All Floridians know that Publix is the best.  Moving around the past few years has really made me appreciate the gloriousness of this grocery store.  It's clean, has great customer service, and has the best deli around.  The Publix sub is amazing.

2.  Online Shopping
Canada has Amazon, but it is nowhere near as good as it is in the U.S.  The only decent online shopping is Gap/Old Navy, where I got alot of stuff for Wyatt.  I guess Americans are spoiled with the fact you can get pretty much anything online.... not in Canada.  This summer when I bought swimsuits half off at Victoria's Secret, I ended up paying almost full price with duty and shipping.  Amazon Prime here I come!

3. Chick-fil-a
I love me a fried chicken sandwich y'all (or grilled if I feel like I need to behave)!  I also can't stop eating the waffle fries.... and I can't forget the chicken biscuits.  We haven't had access to this yummy fast food joint since leaving FL.  It was one of the first things I googled when I was looking for restaurants in Tallahassee.  I can't wait to dig in again!

What's a unique and awesome place in your town?

3 Things I'll Miss about Canada

We are getting closer and closer to moving back to Florida.  Jay is down there as we speak finding a house for our little family.  Time here in Ontario has flown by, but winter seems like forever.  We have had good times here in Canada, and these are the three things I'll miss the most about the Great White North.

1.  Poutine
Oh how I love thee!  You can't go wrong with French fries doused in gravy and topped with cheese curds.  They serve poutine at a lot of restaurants here.  There are even places that serve ONLY poutine.  The picture below is a delicious double cheese version from Poutini's House of Poutine.  It's good to the last bite.  I wonder if I will be able to find this delicacy in Tallahassee?

2.  Downtown Toronto
We live about 20 miles from the excitement of the city, and we've seen most of it while we were here.  It's a city full of amazing neighborhoods, great food, and culture.  More Americans should make the trek up here to experience it.  Jay and I have had date nights there, and we've done lots of family outings.  I've always felt safe walking around, and Torontonians are very friendly and polite.  One of the places I'll miss is St. Lawrence Market (in the pic below with Wyatt).  It's a food lovers heaven.

3.  All You Can Eat Sushi
There are SO many of these restaurants here!  Our favorite is Masa, where lunch is only $12.95 for unlimited sushi (full review coming soon!).  They have great sushi rolls and lots of other goodies too... tempura, udon, teriyaki and soup... just to name a few.  You order from a menu and they bring it to your table when it's ready.  Everything is fresh and delicious.  I know they have this concept at a few places in the states, but I haven't seen it in Florida yet, boo!

Happy New Year!

Yay for 2015!  I hope everyone had an awesome New Years Eve!  Our's was nice and relaxing.  As I promised, I had some cake!  I scarfed down another delicious slice of my Red Velvet birthday cake.  That's one good thing about having a birthday right after Christmas.

What's NYE with out Champagne?  In honor of our last New Years Eve in Canada, the hubby got some Angel's Gate bubbly from the Niagara region of Ontario.  It is good stuff!

Then we got in a couple episodes of our newest Netflix find, Marco Polo.  It is a great show!  We have 6 episodes left, then it will almost be time to dig in to the next season of House of Cards.

I went to sleep around 10:30, and totally missed out on the NYE countdown, for the 3rd year in a row.  My resolution for next year is to make it to Midnight!  That will be my only resolution... they really aren't my thing.  I just want a happy & healthy 2015! That is all :)
